AV-TEST Product Review and Certification Report – Nov-Dec/2024

During November and December 2024 we continuously evaluated 15 home user security products using their default settings. We always used the most current publicly-available version of all products for the testing. They were allowed to update themselves at any time and query their in-the-cloud services. We focused on realistic test scenarios and challenged the products against real-world threats. Products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all components and protection layers. Evaluation based on a point system

All products can achieve a maximum of 6 points each in the three categories of protection, performance and usability. This means 18 points are the best possible test result.
At 10 points or higher, a product is awarded the AV-TEST seal of approval.
At 17.5 points or higher, AV-TEST also issues the "TOP PRODUCT" award. Additional details ›

The time has come again: At the AV-TEST Awards 2024, a number of security vendors will be honored by AV-TEST for the excellent test performance of their IT security products and in recognition of their solid research and development work. In thousands of tests, the experts examined name-brand protection products for consumer users and corporate users on Windows, Mac and Android and certified them for their strong security performance. The AV-TEST Award 2024 honors the products that have consistently stood out with top scores and achieved peak ratings in the long-term test results throughout 2024. For its high level of protection, the Best MacOS Security Award for Consumer Users goes to Avast from the Gen Digital group.

In the 2024 awards, the AV-TEST Institute honored the vendor Bitdefender with a total of 6 awards. The testers are giving this vendor the Best Protection Award for Consumer Users and two Best Protection Awards for Corporate Users. Added to this is the Best Advanced Protection Award for Corporate Users. Bitdefender is also receiving awards in the test categories of Best Android Security and Best MacOS Security for Consumer Users.
